Join Westchester County’s Juvenile Detention Team

Your next career could change a young person’s life

Westchester County is seeking dedicated individuals to work directly with youth in a secure juvenile detention facility. Direct care staff provide the structure, stability, accountability, guidance, and positive support young people need during a critical time in their lives.

Meaningful work. Real responsibility.

Juvenile detention operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. This is active, hands-on work. Youth may at times be confrontational, aggressive, emotionally dysregulated, or experiencing behavioral or mental health challenges.

Direct care staff must be prepared to respond to emergencies and, when necessary, participate in approved physical interventions or restraints in accordance with training and policy.

Employees may be assigned or mandated to posts, shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on the safety and operational needs of the facility.

Because this is a secure environment, strict security procedures apply. Cell phones, smart watches, recording devices, personal electronics, and other prohibited items cannot be brought into the secure facility and must be secured in designated lockers before entering.

We will prepare you

You will receive comprehensive training to help you perform this important work safely, confidently, and professionally.

Are you ready to make an impact?

We are looking for people who are dependable, patient, resilient, compassionate, confident, and committed to working as part of a team.
